Parent Code of Conduct

Families are expected to stay at the park with their child during games or make arrangements for pick-ups when necessary. Coaches or committee members are not baby-sitters.

bullet Children have more need for example than criticism. Attempt to relieve the pressure of competition--not increase it.
bullet Make athletic participation for your child and others a positive experience.
bullet Be kind to your child’s coaches and to officials. The coaches are volunteers giving personal time and money to provide a positive soccer experience for your child.
bullet Applaud good plays by members of your team and members of the opposing team.
bullet The opponents are necessary friends and without them your child could not participate.
bullet Do not openly question a referee’s judgment or honesty, learn the rules of the game. The referee is a symbol of fair play, integrity and sportsmanship.
bullet Help with coaching only if asked

Accept the result of each game and encourage your child to:

bullet Be gracious in victory.
bullet Turn defeat to victory by working towards improvement.

Traveling teams and their parents are representing the City of Warren when visiting and playing in surrounding communities. Show pride in our city and children by being positive role models and not fueling negative rumors about our city.

bullet Most importantly: Exemplify good sportsmanship
bullet Always be supportive of all players
bullet Stay behind the restraining line
bullet Do not use profanity
bullet Do not bother the coach
bullet No alcoholic beverages on the field
bullet No smoking around the areas of play or children
bullet Attend your child’s games and be a positive role model
bullet Behaviors intended to anger or degrade a player, coach or referee is subject to disciplinary action.

Parent’s who refuse to abide by the code of conduct may be requested to leave the field by a referee, coach or WSL committee member. All concerns about parents, coaches or opposing team’s behavior should be alerted to Lori Orr or Cara Venetti.
